  1. T- I read that Achilles and Agnamemnom were fighting and Athena tried to stop the fight from heaven but no such luck.
EX- "But he raged on, grimly camped by his fast fleet, the royal son of Peleus, the swift runner of Achilles"(Homer 335).
T- I Don't really understand what happened. It was confusing.
Y- It could relate to me because if myself and a friend get into a fight over a guy someone will try to put an end to it. But it might not work out.

  2. T- Achilles and Agamemnon were fighting about honor and such, and Athena stopped Achilles right before he was going to kill Agamemnon
EX- "... So you can learn just how much greater I am than you" (Homer 333).
T- I missed the real cause of this fight
Y- I have had altercations escalate to fighting but have been interceded before

  3. I think that this Agamemnon guy is just a narcissistic jerk. He doesn't seem to care for much other than control and power. I think that's why he took Achilles' girl friend. He wanted to control him. There was a quote that really caught my eye in tonight's reading. After going back and forth between Achilles and Agamemnon once or twice, Achilles says, "Shameless armored with shamelessness- always shrewd with greed!"(331). I think that this describes Agamemnon perfectly. He's always worried about control and his honor and glory that he craves so much. But my question is that when he gives Achilles his prize back, does he give her back with a heavy heart, or does he fear what Achilles would do to him if he had gotten a chance? Personally, I feel that this coral between these two people is fueled entirely by Agamemnon's greed. Achilles is just trying to secure one of his only spoils of war.

  4. T- This reading was about the argument between Achilles and Agamemnon. They were arguing about how Agamemnon didn't do anything in the battles, yet he received all of the honor, and he was now taking Achilles woman. This lead to Thetis praying to Zeus to let the Trojans beat the Achaeans.
EX- A quote that shows this is, "'Why, why now? Child of Zeus with the shield of thunder, why come now'" (Fagles 333). This quote just talks about how angry Achilles was and is at the time when Athena stops him from killing Agamemnon.
T- Why was Athena sent to stop Achilles, he has eveyright to kill Agamemnon?
Y- There have been times in my life when I have been extremly angry at my little brother, yet someone calms we down and they get me to stop being so angry.

  5. T- Achilles and Agamemnon argue about Helen and the fate of their followers. Achilles gets angry and almost kills Agamemnon.
EX- "Should he draw the long sharp sword at his hip, thrust through the ranks and kill Agamemnon now?"
T- Are Agamemnon and Achilles fighting over Helen or something else?
Y- I have been in situations where right before I get in a fight or see someone else get in a fight, someone intervenes and stops it.

  6. this is Sydney Firman by the way
T- This reading was all about the argument between Achilles and Agamemnon. After Achilles gets very angry, he almost kills Agamemnon.
EX- "As his racing spirit veered back and forth, just as he drew his huge blade from its sheath..."
T- "Does Agamemnon give Achilles back his girl because he is afraid of Achilles and afraid of what his full potential may be?
Y- I have personally witnessed fights, verbal and physical, between two guys over some girl. In some cases, one guy is trying to steal or win over thr girl that is clearly already taken. Either one will give up and let the girl go or someone will intervene and the tension between the guys will continue.

  7. T-Achilles and Agamemnon fight about agamemnon taking helen. Achilles after this almost kills him over this.
EX- So you can learn just how much greater I am than you was the qoute that really stuck out to me.
T- How could to people go so insane over one girl? and why would athena have to get in on it?
Y-this relates to me because there have been times when fight is the way i wanted to go, but someone or something has changed my thought to a better situation.

  8. T- The highest point of conflict from the reading is when Achilles pulls a sword on Agamemnon and the gods have to intervene.
EX-"You are all witness; look my prize is snatched away."
T- What are the gods going to do?
Y- This is getting exciting that the story is having more tension!

  9. T- So what I read was that Agamemnon stole Achilles honor(the girl) which pised him off because Agamemnon had shown no right to have such a prize.
Ex- "Never once did you arm with the troops and go to battle or risk an ambush packed with Achaes's picked men" (Homer 334).
T- Would Agamemnon given Achilles back the girl if Acilles had not threatened to kill him?
Y- I've seen two boys fight over a girl and girls fight over boys. It's never happened to me and friend but it's happened to my friends.

  10. T-I read that Achilles and Agamemnon were fighting because Agamemnon took Helen and in so also took some of his honor and one of his prizes. Also Achilles nearly killed Agamemnon but Athena stopped him.
Ex- "As his racing spirit veered back and forth, just as he drew his huge blade from its sheath, down from the vaulting heaven heavens swept Athena" (Homer 333).
T- What is Athena getting out of it by stopping Achilles?
    Y-Good to see more action

  11. T- In pages 330-335, Agamemnon stole Achilles Time by taking Helen. Achilles was disappointed becuase he knew that Agamemnon did not deserve the hottest girl in the world but he did.
EX- "My honors never equal yours, whenever we sack some wealthy Trojan stronghold- my arms bear the brunt of the raw, savage fighting..." (Homer 331)
T- Could Agamemnon have kidnapped Helen because he was going to hold her for ransom or did he kidnap her because he likes her?
Y- This reading was fun because there was a lot of action always going on or some drama between characters which made the reading much more interesting.
